Local web resources providing information about Building the Entrepreneurial Nonprofit

The City of Seattle's Planning Office, one of the Executive branch departments, offers support to entrepreneurial nonprofit organizations. There is currently a request for proposals (RFP) for funding opportunities for nonprofit social enterprises posted on their website. The site also highlights past Social Enterprise Consortium events.

CommunityWealth.org represents an unprecedented effort to create a centralized, online resource and dialogue about community wealth. Topics such as nonprofit/for-profit partnerships, cause-related marketing, social entrepreneurship, venture philanthropy and nonprofit business ventures are explored.

The Denali Initiative is an opportunity for leaders in the non-profit sector to become more entrepreneurial in their efforts to meet community needs. The program provides participants with the skills, tools and capital they need to implement outstanding social enterprise projects.

The Initiative on Social Enterprise is a major effort at Harvard Business School focusing on nonprofit organizations and other private social-purpose enterprises. It was created to respond to the growing social and economic importance of the nonprofit sector, and its ever-increasing interrelationship with business.

Social Venture Partners (SVP) seeks to develop philanthropy and volunteerism to achieve positive social change in the Puget Sound region. Using the venture capital approach as a model, SVP is committed to giving time, money and expertise to create partnerships with not
