Ted
Lord
Center for Nonprofit and Social Enterprise Management
Ted Lord is acting director
of the Center for Nonprofit and Social Enterprise Management at Seattle
University. As executive director of The Pride Foundation from 1992-2000,
he helped increase grants and scholarships to organizations dedicated
to strengthening the region's lesbian and gay community from $35,000
to over $600,000 annually. He began his work in human services as Director
of Public Relations for Community Services for the Blind. Ted currently
serves on the board of United Way of King County, where his previous
volunteer work includes community needs assessment rating, strategic
plan communications, and work as a loaned executive. He was Vice President/Program
for Philanthropy Northwest, the regional association of grantmakers
in the Northwest, in 1998 and 1999, and chaired their 2000 Strategic
Plan. Other board service includes work with Funders Concerned About
AIDS, and as Treasurer of the Northwest Development Officers Association.
He also served in the Peace Corps as a teacher trainer in Mauritania.
His poetry has appeared in literary journals including Carolina Quarterly,
The Southern Poetry Review, and The Indiana Review. In 1999 he was named
by the Greater Seattle Business Association as Community Leader of the
Year.
