Tom
Donlea
Executive Director
Washington Works
Coming to WW in 1997 with
a unique background in business and direct service, Tom has been involved
in the redesigning of WW's services and programs to better meet the
need of regional employers and low-income job seekers.
Tom's focus has helped create
entrepreneurial methods of providing low-income residents access to
good jobs and providing reliable employees for local employers. (WW
currently operates the lost and found at Sea-Tac Airport as a managed
work-site). A majority of Washington Works' job seeking clients are
women and people of color or recent immigrants. As a white male executive,
Tom works diligently to recruit and retain a diverse, culturally competent
staff.
In the next three years Washington
Works will be creating one new business each year that will hire its
program trainees and provide market driven services. Tom is a board
member of Southeast Youth and Family Services and actively supports
local efforts to eliminate institutionalized racism and meet basic human
need.
