Ted Lord
Director
Northwest Giving Project at Philanthropy Northwest

Ted Lord is Director of the Northwest Giving Project, a collaborative philanthropy promotion initiative whose partners include the Oregon Community Foundation, The Seattle Foundation, and Social Venture Partners. He is also a partner in Philanthropy Northwest's Giving Practice, working with individuals, families, and businesses as they establish or retool their giving programs.

Ted recently finished served as Acting Director of the Center for Nonprofit and Social Enterprise Management at Seattle University. As executive director of The Pride Foundation from 1992-2000, he helped increase grants and scholarships to organizations dedicated to strengthening the region's lesbian and gay community from $35,000 to over $600,000 annually. He began his work in human services as Director of Public Relations for Community Services for the Blind.

Ted currently serves on the board of United Way of King County, where his previous volunteer work includes community needs assessment rating, strategic plan communications, and work as a loaned executive. He was Vice President/Program for Philanthropy Northwest, the regional association of grantmakers in the Northwest, in 1998 and 1999, and chaired their 2000 Strategic Plan. Other board service includes work with Funders Concerned About AIDS, and as Treasurer of the Northwest Development Officers Association. He served in the Peace Corps as a teacher trainer in Mauritania. His poetry has appeared in literary journals including Carolina Quarterly, The Southern Poetry Review, and The Indiana Review. In 1999 he was named by the Greater Seattle Business Association as Community Leader of the Year.
